Here at Envireau Water, we are proud to support career events at local universities. This week, Anna Hetherington, Senior Hydrogeologist and Meg Hopkins, Assistant Scientist were pleased to attend Derby University’s Geoscience Employability Event to talk to students about how they can progress their careers in the geoscience sector.
As Meg completed her Geology and Environmental Hazards Bsc at the University of Derby in 2016, she was also invited to deliver a presentation to students about how they can prepare themselves for life after university. This included her 5 tips for getting ahead, from getting work experience to practising public speaking.
Reflecting on the event, Meg commented “Not only was it interesting to speak to students about the current job market, it was fantastic to see how many of them were really driven to get ahead in the geology or geography fields. We came back without any brochures, which is always a sign of enthusiasm!”
