Our work providing support for the development of a new groundwater supply for the irrigation of crops, including potatoes, on agricultural land in the Lipetsk region in South East Russia is continuing. The client is currently using surface water ‘ponds’ but more water is needed and groundwater is a viable option. In 2014 we undertook a feasibility study which involved a very cold site reconnaissance visit early in the year.
The project is now moving on and we have just been awarded the contract to supervise the drilling of the trial boreholes. The contracts with the drilling contractor are currently being finalised and we expect work to start early next year. With temperatures expected to be around -15, the team are stocking up on their winter wardrobe!
