Senior Hydrologist

You will be based in the Midlands office situated between the university towns of Derby and Nottingham and within easy reach of the Peak District National Park. Equipped with state of the art technology, the office forms the hub of the Envireau Water group.

What will the role of Senior Hydrologist entail?

We are expanding our hydrological capabilities in response to a growing demand in UK project work and as a Senior Hydrologist, you will support the team with both field and office based technical activities. You will benefit from a flexible working environment in which you can continue to develop your career, while learning new technical and business skills; as well as developing opportunities across a wide range of different projects for a diverse client base. As you build your experience, you will lead your own projects and build your own client portfolio.

What will I need to be considered for this Senior Hydrologist role?

  • Degree level qualification in civil engineering or earth sciences.
  • A blend of practical and technical experience within consultancy, or within other industries / situations.
  • Experience of flood risk assessment and flood estimation techniques for river, urban and coastal flooding applications.
  • Experience in the development of river and floodplain flood models using UK industry standard hydraulic modelling software, such as FloodModellerPro, TUFLOW, or Infoworks ICM.
  • Knowledge and practice of Microdrainage or Causeway Flow.
  • Proficiency in using GIS software such as MapInfo/ArcGIS.
  • Have a good first degree and probably a second degree, and working towards a relevant Chartership.
  • Ambitious and enthusiastic; as well as a team player and a confident communicator.
  • A self-starting, flexible and adaptable approach to work, with imaginative and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Understand the importance of delivering project tasks on time and within budget.
  • A full UK valid driving licence.

Salary: £30 – 35k depending on experience.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week within Monday to Friday. Flexibility with start and finish times available.

Contract Type: Permanent.

Location: Draycott, Derbyshire. With easy access to the M1, A50 and A42, the office is well placed for commuting across the Midlands.
