Ella Pendleton, one of our Senior Hydrogeologists, attended the Institute of Brewing and Distilling Worldwide Distilled Spirits Conference, held in Glasgow over three days from 8 – 11 September. The overall focus of the Conference was “Future Challenges, New Solutions” with themed sessions reflecting the distilling process from Raw Materials and Distillation to Energy and the Environment.

With over 300 delegates from 30 countries in attendance there was plenty of chance to meet new people and catch up with old friends.

Presentations were given by research institutions, and industry experts, on a wide variety of topics. In addition to the spoken presentations there were over 30 poster presentations. Ella’s presentation gave an overview of developing a Water Availability Footprint and how to use the results as a tool to manage water related risks.

Interest in Water Footprinting has been recently renewed by the publication of the first International Standard on Water Footprinting. Click here to read Ella’s poster.
