Deborah joined Envireau Water earlier this year, as a Senior Hydrogeologist. Here she tell us what she has been up to so far in her new role, and how she has found settling into the Envireau Water way of the world:

“They say time flies, and it has now been 3 months since I joined Envireau Water. Since joining the team in the Draycott office as a Senior Hydrogeologist, I have been working on a large variety of different projects, ranging from undertaking a Hydrogeological Risk Assessment for an inert landfill, to assisting in hydraulic test pumping of boreholes. I have assisted on an Impact Assessment for a Limestone Quarry and largescale monitoring networks as part of long running Water Resources Projects.

Work has ranged from things which I have never undertaken before, such as analysis of long duration pumping tests and submitting abstraction licence renewals, to work in environments which are more recognisable to me; undertaking reviews of groundwater levels and monitoring networks quarries.

Where projects or hydrogeological environments are new, its enjoyable to see that the skills which I have gained from my previous hydrogeological position carry across into this new position and new area of hydrogeology.

Throughout all of the above projects I have been given the opportunity to take responsibility for either the project management and finances of the project or take a technical lead position. Whatever role I have taken, I have always felt supported and able to seek assistance from the strong technical team in the company as required.

Not only is the technical work varied and interesting, events such as the Staff and Clients Day, Young Professionals Networking Session and Geological Society Careers Fair give work an interesting balance. Added into that are the team meals, pumpkin (or watermelon!) carving and Fish-and-Chip-Fridays…so not only am I well fed, but also feel very settled as part of the Envireau Team.”

As a growing, dynamic organisation we are always looking for people to join our team who, along with academic achievements, relevant experience and the right skill set, will contribute to our positive and professional ethos. Whilst we do not currently have any vacancies, we are happy to receive speculative CVs from enthusiastic people who are looking for new challenges and opportunities. If you feel you have the skill set and experience that we value, and are interested in joining one of the UK’s leading independent specialist water consultancies, please send your CV to phil@envireauwater.co.uk.
