Lauren Moore, a BSc Geography student at The University of Derby, has just finished a week long placement with us here at Envireau Water.
Here she tells us about what she has learned from her short spell as part of the Envireau Water team:
“As an undergraduate geography student I have undertaken several modules that relate to the environment, most favourably Environmental Management and Water: resource, hazard and commodity. Envireau Water has offered an insight into environmental consulting during my short, yet invaluable internship. Throughout my week with the company I have been exposed to on-site fieldwork practices such as ground and surface water sampling and borehole dip rounds. Back in the office, I learned how to interpret the data that I collected. It has made me realise that for consultancy, it’s essential that I expand my knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other software such as ArcGIS. This week I have also attended a Geological Society talk on Big Data and I was involved in my first networking event. I have enjoyed the variation of tasks presented to me and the associated responsibility. Envireau Water has supported me throughout the week and welcomed me into the team. Overall, I have learnt a great deal and greatly appreciate the opportunity – Thank You!”
It has been an absolute pleasure having Lauren as part of our team for the week we wish her all the best with her studies and future endeavours.
