Envireau Water had the pleasure of attending the 20th Extractive Industry Geology (EIG) Conference in Durham this month.

The EIG Conference is the principal event for sharing knowledge, scientific research and good practice in the field of applied geology within the UK minerals industry.

Our Principal Hydrogeologist, Lee Clarke is the treasurer for the EIG and a member of the organising committee for the conference. He Chaired the ‘Groundwater Issues’ session which Envireau Water was also pleased to sponsor.

Envireau Water took the opportunity to exhibit at the conference. It was great to meet new contacts and catch up with those who our team have known for many years. The hot topic of conversation was around the Quarry Dewatering New Authorisations. We launched our handy guide which covers ‘Transition Arrangements’; making and submitting your application; and a useful timeline of key deadlines. Our rock identification game also went down well with the delegates as they tested their knowledge naming the rocks that our team have collected whilst out on site (and on holiday!). We were pleased to award Andrew Bellamy from Tarmac with a bottle of prosecco after he got the majority of them right!
