Here at Envireau Water, we pride ourselves in offering opportunities for people to learn, develop and gain experience in our area of expertise. This week we are joined by Lauren Moore, a Geography student from the University of Derby.
During her week with our team, Lauren will be focusing on a quarrying project, which will involve both field and office based technical activities. On site, she will assist with ground and surface water sampling, then once back in the office will learn how to process and interpret the data collected.
As Continuing Professional Development is important to us here at Envireau Water, Lauren will be attending the Geological Society East Midlands Regional Group monthly presentation, as well as Envireau Water’s ‘Who’s In My Backyard’ informal networking event. It is certainly going to be a busy week!
Learn about Lauren
Lauren is in the 3rd and final year of her Geography BSc, and has a particular interest in environmental consultancy. As part of her degree, Lauren completed an environmental management module, during which she conducted a hypothetical Environmental Impact Assessment for a housing development focusing on hydrology. In another module, Lauren explored flooding in the River Trent catchment which included learning about SuDS and flood defences. The week before joining our team, Lauren was on a field trip in Morocco learning about sedimentation in dams, water scarcity and irrigation systems for the agricultural sector, and waste management in landfill sites.
On joining the Envireau Water team, Lauren commented “I am excited to enhance my practical skillset through fieldwork, in addition to broadening my knowledge of software systems utilised throughout environmental management. This opportunity with Envireau Water will ensure a greater insight into the industry, and help influence my decision to move into higher education.”
To meet Lauren, why not join us at our networking event taking place on Wednesday in our Head Office in Draycott, Derbyshire. Find out more here.
