One month has passed since Lauren joined the Envireau Water team for a summer internship as an administrative assistant. She’s already got quite the story to tell:
“I can’t believe I’m already a month into my internship, which is certainly testament to the varied activities I have been involved with in such a short period of time.
The administrative tasks I have completed have enabled to me to develop a commercial understanding of how Envireau Water functions as a business, building on knowledge acquired during my work experience earlier in the year.
In addition to supporting the day to day functions of the Head Office, I’ve enjoyed being involved in the organisation of the highly acclaimed Borehole Users Conference, the EIG conference and Envireau Water’s annual summer client tea party.
I’ve actually been involved in an exciting project for the client party which utilises a skill not directly related to the work of Envireau Water.
Through working closely with the Marketing Co-ordinator, Leanne, my creative skills which developed from a Foundation Degree in Art & Design were discovered.
Following inspiration from Hazel Gibson, a researcher of Science Communication at Plymouth University, I have been tasked with creating ‘cartoon case study’ posters to illustrate how the Envireau Water team’s skills and expertise have provided successful solutions for our clients. These are going to be displayed at the client tea party.
The opportunity to discuss projects across a wide range of sectors with my colleagues has allowed me to expand my technical understanding and given me a thorough idea of the kinds of projects that Envireau Water is involved in. It’s fantastic that Envireau Water has recognised my creative background and is utilising my skills in a fun but also constructive way.”
Last week, Lauren attended her graduation ceremony at the University of Derby, after having achieved a 1st in her Geography BSc. A huge congratulations, it’s fantastic to have her as part of our team.
