James Dodds delivered a presentation on private water supplies risk assessments to the Derbyshire Dales District Council Private Water Supplies Group annual meeting. Local authority officers from Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire who routinely deal with supplies under the Private Water Supplies Regulations were introduced to ‘borehole basics’ – different types of boreholes; what they look like; and how they work. James then went on to discuss borehole risk assessments, including the 4 s’ in assessment – environmental setting; potential for surface water ingress; whether there is a sanitary seal; and commonsense.
