Shrewsbury: An Office Launch to Remember!

April 24, 2024

We have offices in Scotland, Derbyshire and North Yorkshire but there is one place that's been on our list for many years… Shrewsbury! Known to many as the ‘Hub of Hydrogeology’, it's only fitting that Envireau Water join the fold.

Last week, we had the pleasure of celebrating the official launch of our new office with key individuals who have played pivotal roles in our expansion into Shrewsbury and fellow professionals from the local community.

Dr Phil Ham, our managing director, commented, "We were thrilled to celebrate our launch with friends old and new. It's safe to say our team felt right at home, and were welcomed warmly into what can only be described as a thriving community of hydrogeologists.

Our expansion into Shrewsbury marks a significant milestone for the business. It provides the right environment for us to continue growing our personable, agile, collaborative, and expert consultancy. I am confident that it will be a success.

I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended our launch, and for those who missed the event, we look forward to seeing you soon!"

Based at Windsor House, our newest office is situated within a grade II Listed Building in the heart of the town, with beautiful walks, scenery, and boutique shops right on our doorstep.

The entire Envireau Water team are excited about our recent expansion, and we cannot wait to welcome our newest team members to the office in the coming weeks!

Across the globe, plastic pollution is becoming an increasingly crucial topic, with an estimated 400 million tonnes being produced every year world wide. While the focus is often on visible plastic (including bottles, bags, and packaging), a growing body of research is turning its attention to the invisible threat of microplastics and emerging contaminants, which are increasingly finding their way into water sources, food chains and even the air we breathe. What are microplastics? Microplastics are a growing threat to the health of our planet. Despite being barely visible, these tiny plastic particles account for roughly 8% of global plastic waste, a number that is set to increase in the coming years.

As much as we all love the sunshine and have been embracing the recent warmer weather spell across the UK, the prolonged dry conditions are now raising concerns that England may be at risk of a potential drought this summer. Following an exceptionally sunny and dry April, which experienced just over 56% of usual rainfall, the start of May was also the warmest on record, surpassing the previous high set in 1990. With water resources already strained, it is more important than ever that proactive measures are promptly adopted to mitigate this risk, promote water conservation and avoid the potential for future restrictions. We asked Principal Water Resources Specialist, Tamsin Morey , for her thoughts on the matter... Tamsin, what dangers are we already seeing in the UK?
