Envireau Water is the UK’s leading independent specialist water consultancy. Our people are not only a part of it, they are it! Rather than feeling like a small cog in a big machine, here at Envireau Water, we do things a little differently. Phil Ham, Managing Director of Envireau Water shares just a few of the benefits of working for a small consultancy:
1) You’re a name, not a number
I know everybody in our organisation, and not just from working with them – charity hikes, curry nights, interesting lectures, baking competitions. By operating as a close-knit team, we come up with more effective solutions for our clients, than we would working individually. We collectively celebrate our successes and collaboratively work through difficulties.
2) Actually, you’re more than just a name
My team is made up of people who I want to see making the most of their talents. I encourage each and every member of the Envireau Water team to advance with continuing professional development activities and networking. Supporting and motivating my staff as individuals, leads to success.
3) Open door policy…in fact, I don’t even have a door
Every day I interact with my team. I encourage ‘end of desk meetings’, meaning the team can seek my advice when they need it, and share their ideas as soon as they have them.
Every Monday morning, the team gets together to share the latest status of our current and upcoming projects. This allows real transparency and collaboration as business and project plans are communicated directly to the entire team.
4) You make a real impact with your work
I don’t believe in ‘pigeonholing’. Our people experience a variety of projects with a range of clients and are given the space, flexibility and responsibility to show what they can do. I don’t just want people to be in a role but to own it and show me what they can make of it. Each individual’s work directly contributes to the success of the company, and this work is recognised and rewarded by their peers, myself and our board.
