Members of the Envireau Water team were pleased to meet other young professionals from Derby, Nottingham and Loughborough at a networking session held at Envireau Water’s head office.

This was the 4th session in the series of free ‘Who’s in my Backyard’ networking events, hosted by Envireau Water. The idea behind these events is to provide the opportunity for young professionals to engage and develop long lasting relationships early in their careers. As Leanne Thomas, Marketing Co-ordinator explains: “We’ve realised that the reason these events work so well is because we’ve created them to be the kind of event that we would enjoy attending ourselves – a relaxed, informal environment, a fridge of cold beer and wine, a table of cheese…oh and of course a silly icebreaker! As we are joined by such friendly, like-minded people of a similar age and career level, we really feel like we get a lot of out of the sessions.”

Individuals from a range of organisations attended yesterday’s session, including Quensus, Land Research Associates, Freeths Solicitors, WSP, Mapmatic, WYG, Aggregate Industries, DMT Consulting, Longcliffe Quarries and Twycross House School.

Victoria Teece, a Solicitor at Freeths said “Thank you for inviting us to attend another excellent event. It was great to meet so many new faces, covering such a broad range of disciplines. I really enjoyed the icebreaker game as a great way to connect with people on a more personal level. I’m really looking forward to the next event.”

Katie Loakes, a Graduate Modeller from WSP commented “Thank you for organising the event and for the invitation – I really enjoyed myself and it was nice to meet other young professionals in the area and get to know them during a very relaxed, informal session – it didn’t feel like networking as such, just a casual get together which, I think, takes the pressure off!”

Reflecting on the event, Deborah Thomas, Senior Hydrogeologist said: “It’s fantastic to see that people have returned after enjoying previous events. We’re also thrilled that at every session there are new faces. Word is spreading about the success of these sessions and we’re always pleased to welcome new people to join us.”
